Frank Lampard have identified Barcelona’s La Masia graduate who is currently on loan with Getafe as an option for a possible transfer this summer. The London club have made first contact with the player over a possible move to Stamford Bridge.

Reports also claims that the player have also been contacted by Napoli and Bundesliga’s Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen for a possible switch if Barcelona fail to activate the buy back clause for the player and decides to sell him.

Barcelona have an arrangement with Getafe to sell their loanee in the summer for €6 million and the Catalan giants stand to earn 40 per cent of his next transfer.

If Getafe secure a permanent deal with the  under-21 star, they will include a buyout clause of around €25m (£23m/$28m), which is attractive to Chelsea,Napoli, Gladbach and Leverkusen.

Chelsea have been scouting Cucurella and are pretty impressed with the players qualities and with the fact that he can play in the left – back position. But Chelsea are only thought to have him as a possible option on their shortlist with the likes of Leicester City Ben Chiwell and Porto’s Alex Telles being considered as top priorities.

Chelsea are not counting on Marcos Alonso to remain at the club next season. The player was close to a move which would have seen him joined former manager, Antonio Conte in Inter Milan in January.

Barcelona are not interested in bringing Cucurella back to the club despite his impressive performances that have helped Getafe compete for a Champions League spot and also saw them advance in the Europa League.

Cucurella criticized the current Barca board last month in an interview with Sport , stating that players from the academy are no longer given a chance to succeed at Camp Nou.

“I think that at Barcelona, which is a big club, the important thing is to win in the end,” he said. “Maybe they don’t have the patience that they [once] had. As a cantera player, which I am, they don’t give you the chances you deserve.

“I don’t like it because I expected they would be more confident in the youth academy (cantera). In football, the important thing is to win. Winning is more important than having patience.”

Marc is a versatile player that can operate in any of the left-wing, wing-back or left-back roles.

A lot of fans would love to have Cucurella back at the club as they believe the player is a natural heir to the left back position following the horrible performance of Junior Firpo against Napoli and Real Betis. The player has failed to live up to expectations and his position is been threaten by Akieme, another promising left back from Barca B.

Schalke’s loanee from Barcelona Juan Miranda is understood to be ahead of Cucurella should the club decide to recall any of their loan stars this summer.
